CONSTRUCTION REPORTS
Wisconsin construction reports

Wisconsin construction activity, as reports.

Readable PDF reports on what is being proposed and built in Wisconsin, taken from plan commission and county zoning meetings, state construction stormwater filings, permits and land sales. Every item links to the public record it came from.

Requests are handled by email. A sample does not commit you to buy.

The reports

Three reports, built from public filings.

Each report is a letter-size PDF, grouped by county and then by city, village or town, with a link on every item to the agenda, minutes or state record behind it. The pages shown here are from the September 2026 and July to September 2026 editions.

Monthly

New Building Activity in Wisconsin

Projects that may put up a new building, an addition or a new subdivision, taken from plan commission, council and county zoning meetings held that month. The report opens with the month's totals, then lists the items in three sections.

  • New buildings, Additions and Subdivisions, each grouped by county and place.
  • For each item: the applicant, a plain description of the project, the approval sought (site plan review, rezone, conditional use permit, plat, development agreement), the project type and the outcome where the record states one.
  • The meeting date, the address and parcel number where recorded, and a link to each meeting document.

Sector profiles

One report per building sector, covering a month or a quarter. Each opens with a count for every section, then lists the items by county and place. Browse the projects behind each profile below.

  • Planning and zoning: items before a plan commission, council or county zoning committee.
  • Permits and plans filed: building permits issued and commercial plans filed with the state, with the filing firm where named.
  • Site activity: state environmental filings, mainly DNR construction stormwater permits and water permits, with permit number and status.
  • Land sales: recorded sales of commercial property, with buyer, seller, price and acreage.
  • Public money: bond financing, grants, tax credits and school referendums, where any were found.
Who uses them

Which report fits your work.

Most items come from plan commission and county zoning minutes and from DNR construction stormwater filings, so the reports are strongest on work that is still being approved or about to break ground.

Erosion control, excavation and grading

Construction stormwater filings are made for sites about to disturb soil. They are listed under Site activity in each sector profile with the site, permit number and status. New subdivisions and plats show land that will be graded next.

Site utilities and paving

Subdivision plats, certified survey maps, rezones and street vacations are the earliest signs that new lots, streets and services are coming.

Surveyors and civil engineers

Certified survey maps and plats are listed by county with the parcel number where recorded, so you can see which land divisions and site plans are moving through review.

Where the items come from

Public records, read and summarized.

Software reads each meeting document and filing, writes a short description of the project, and files it under the right type and sector. The link on every item goes to the original record so you can check it.

Plan commission and zoning meetings

Agendas, packets and minutes from city and village plan commissions, councils and county zoning committees. The main source for all three reports.

DNR construction stormwater filings

State filings for construction sites that will disturb soil, plus DNR water permits. Listed under Site activity in the sector profiles.

Permits and state plan review

Building and trade permits and commercial plans filed with the state, where they are published. This part of the record is thinner than the meeting minutes.

Land sales and public money

Recorded commercial property sales, and bond financing, grants, tax credits and school referendums tied to a project.

Want the rows rather than a PDF? The same records are available as files on the bulk data page. Public construction bids are on the bid board, and the project tracker follows each commercial project from its first filing. The construction projects themselves are listed by county, city and sector.

Questions

Common questions.

What format are the reports in?

Letter-size PDF files. Every item carries a link to the meeting document or state record it came from.

How often are they made?

New Building Activity and the planning report cover one calendar month. Sector profiles come as a monthly or a quarterly edition.

Are single-family homes included?

The planning report leaves out items for single homes, duplexes and home lot splits. New Building Activity includes new subdivisions, since they lead to site work.

Which parts of Wisconsin are covered?

The places whose meetings and filings we collect. The places each item came from are named in the report, and a sample shows what a month looks like for your area.

Can I see the data before asking for a report?

Yes. The free project tracker is built on the same records. Open it to look around.
